LONDON, ENGLAND (November 30, 2021) – Sherman Theatrical Entertainment, a musical theatre and entertainment company, is teaming with MakersPlace, the premier NFT marketplace for digital art to launch themed collectibles drawing from its deep historical archives. The first introduction will be an NFT collection titled INKAS by The Sherman Brothers.
Inkas the Ramferinkas is an original animated musical about a flying dinosaur. The story, songs and characters were created by the Academy Award™ winning Sherman Brothers who are arguably the most successful songwriting team in Hollywood history. The Sherman Brothers wrote song scores for Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Jungle Book, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Winnie the Pooh and Charlotte’s Web among many others famous titles. Today, their song “It’s A Small World (After All)” holds the record as the most performed song on Earth.
The INKAS by The Sherman Brothers NFT series is comprised of video and song clips from the never-seen-before, original animatic storyboard reel. The premier NFT in the series is a unique (“1 of 1”) video sequence and will be accompanied by an original physical, hand-drawn storyboard drawing from the animatic. The drawing in this series was created by Oscar nominated and BAFTA award winning animator, Tim Watts.
Sherman Theatrical Entertainment will debut the INKAS NFT Collection on December 1 at Nolcha Shows: NFT Edition during Miami Art Week 2021.
Peruvian-American opera singer Charlotte Ushela will be at the event performing melodies from the Sherman Theatrical Entertainment catalogue including “Little No One” from Inkas the Ramferinkas. A portion of the proceeds of the NFT sales will support carbon removal from Nori projects.
“A part of our mission at MakersPlace is to not only preserve cultural artifacts, by way of NFTs, but to allow for fans and collectors to further their investment and connection with such artifacts and artworks through digital ownership. The release of the last ever Sherman Brothers musical project, by way of Sherman Theatrical Entertainment, on MakersPlace represents a unique opportunity for collectors to own a piece of cultural history while honoring and preserving the immeasurable legacy of the Sherman Brothers and their music. We are ecstatic to work alongside Sherman Theatrical Entertainment to immortalize this legacy through a collection of original NFTs from a project 70 years in the making,” stated Dannie Chu, MakersPlace CEO.
